Phoenix Recycling processes loads of sorted recyclables from all over the Province of Manitoba. As we are a large volume processor we are able to handle tractor trailer loads of recyclables, re-bale the material into acceptable mill size bales and then ship the bales to mills for recycling. This allows the municipal recycling programs to run more efficiently because otherwise they would have to store up an entire tractor trailer of each material before they could ship it to a mill. Each tractor trailer going to a mill must weight a minimum 44,000 lbs. So you can imagine how long it would take, and how much space it would take, for a small municipality to collect 44,000 lbs of each material that they collect for recycling.
